Naked Truth - Love is a Battlefield

SEE EVENT DETAILS
It’s our annual Valentine’s day show; There are sure to be stories of torch songs, Dear Johns, and so much more. Come listen to writers, poets, comedians, and talented raconteurs share their true, personal tales of love-related war wounds, and maybe their favorite songs from the '80s.

Storytellers:

Dhaya Lakshminarayanan: Dhaya is a frequent storyteller on NPR’s Snap Judgment, a favorite performer at Sketchfest and has appeared on PBS’s KQED. http://dhayacomedy.com/

Kari Kiernan: Kari’s work appears both in print and onstage. She lives in San Francisco where, possibly illegally, she has neither a bicycle nor a dog. http://cerealfordinneragain.com/

Kay DeMartini is an NPR Storyteller, corporate speaker, emcee, facilitator. She produces the popular East Bay storytelling series: BustingOut. She says about her fantastic series: “Hookers, cops, doctors, ex-cons, trannies, salsa teachers, authors, tap dancers, pizza makers, and many more – have shared their stories onstage with us over the past 5 yrs. The stories are different but also similar. Barriers go down and people lean in. Often funny, sometimes poignant, always true.”

Mike Capozzola is a San Francisco-based stand-up comedian, actor and cartoonist/illustrator. His work has appeared in Mad Magazine, TED Talks, McSweeney’s, The Bold Italic, The Bay Guardian, WIRED, The Pacific Sun, Stars & Stripes, The Jerusalem Post, The Humor Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and more. He has also contributed a few dozen premises to the award-winnng, nationally syndicated cartoon, BIZARRO. http://www.capozzola.com/

Emcee:

Josh Healey is an award-winning writer, performer, and creative activist. Fusing his distinct storytelling style with subversive humor and a fiery love for justice, Healey has been featured in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and is a regular performer on NPR’s Snap Judgment.
