There are so many hardcore bands thrashing around in basements all over the country, it takes something special for one to stand out above the rest. In the case of Seattle-based Mysterious Skin, it's their drummer. The band plays at ridiculously fast tempos--outpacing most of their contemporaries by a longshot. Not only does their drummer keep up; he tosses out crazy fills in the process. It's mesmerizing. The rest of the band are great too: meaty riffs, aggressive energy, angry vocals. (AC)
