Mr. Ben and The Eye-Birds

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Mr. Ben and the Eye-Birds
Mr. Ben and the Eye-Birds is a kid-friendly alternative rock band, based out of Modesto, CA, led by Summit Charter Academy’s (K-5) art teacher, Mr. Ben. The band name is based on the book that Mr. Ben and his students illustrated and published last year, “Gus the Magical Moose,” which is based on a song that Mr. Ben wrote about a fictional purple, flying moose named Gus, who is from Switzerland, and learns to believe in himself despite his differences from the rest of the world. At the end of the song, it says that Gus “ditched the machines and conventions of the modern civilized man, and he hitched a ride with the “Eye-Birds” to an imaginary magical land.”

Mr. Ben is the main song-writer, and plays acoustic and electric guitar and sings. Mr. Ben’s wife, Brook also sings, plays percussion, a Theramin,
and other odds and ends. Bethany Joseph sings and plays banjo and percussion. Paul Muncy plays the drums and sings a bit. Joseph Scalero plays lead electric guitar and sings. Nathan Ignacio plays bass and sings, Heaven Lindsey-Burtch plays acoustic guitar, sings, and does live art on a projector.

Mr. Ben and the Eye-Birds have played regularly at Summit over the last year, and have played at other schools, local venues, and even played at the Madera Children’s Hospital. With eclectic costumes, and steam-punk/nature decorations, the live show is visually appealing, and is sure to entertain a crowd of any size. Currently, they are in the recording stages, and plan to release a 6 track ep by late Spring 2015. We intend to market ourselves toward children and mental patients, to play for school assemblies, children’s hospitals, mental hospitals, as well as adults and adult venues. Our message is positive, and inspiring, but we’ll be sure to provide a high-energy rock concert. It has become quite apparent that everyone is inspired by the music we play, and by Gus the Magical Moose.

Stop Motion Poetry
Stop Motion Poetry hail from Modesto, CA, a small bright-eyed town in California’s agricultural heartland. Like the city the Beggs brothers call home, Stop Motion Poetry’s music aspires to greater things than the at-a-glance sum of its parts. It is both accessible and intelligent, while managing somehow to avoid their evil twins: obsequiousness and impenetrability. With their 2012 debut album, Stop Motion Poetry proved their earnest optimism and old-soul sensibility had legs enough to carry them into the headphones of the world. Early looks at their new material seem to indicate a bold jump to the next logical step: it’s what one would hope they would do next, despite the comfortable jeans of their debut. Stop Motion Poetry is a band to watch. These young scions of California’s cornucopia are brimming with fresh yet familiar sounds, unafraid to reinvent themselves, looking forward to the future with smart, bright eyes.

Pacific Lung
Pacific lung is an indie rock band from Modesto CA. It's line up consists of Oscar Barajas ( guitar, vocals, piano, omnichord ) Mark Oesau ( piano, vocals, trumpet, guitar ) Gabe Kovac ( drums, vocals, drum machine ) James Turpo ( bass ) Leonard Bowling ( sax, banjo ) Todd Wason ( guitar ). The band in its current form consist of members from different prog-psych-pop-indie bands like Myosin and Muir. Pacific Lung can be described as a indie psychedelic rock band with elements of prog, baroque pop. Heavily influenced by an array musical genres such as sixties soul, seventies rock, bluegrass and contemporary prog and avantgard. Pacific Lung first full length album "visitor" released on January 2015 is available on vinyl, and most digital retailers.
