More than a hundred of the city’s most talented young artists will come together for MIXMASH, a bold, experimental, and cutting-edge evening of performance and art benefiting San Francisco’s only public arts high school. A visual and auditory explosion, the evening will showcase the wide array of artistic disciplines at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, alongside musical legends from Bay Area band Tower of Power.
The focus of the evening will be to celebrate the creative visionaries defining the art of the next generation. Attendees may be surprised at the caliber of emerging talent and how they are pushing the limits of their artistic genres.
According to Asawa SOTA Artist-in-Residence and MIXMASH Arts Curator, Rachel Znerold, “During a time when the future of art and culture in San Francisco is uncertain, these incredible young artists still have a lot to say. In this great city founded on the spirit of creativity, they are truly a beam of hope for the future. The time to listen to their creative voices is HERE and NOW.”
What should attendees expect on April 26? MIXMASH will be filled with surprising juxtapositions and inspiring performances, including:
• Live musical performances on the main stage featuring a full band of Asawa SOTA Music Students and Faculty, along with Tower of Power members Dave Garibaldi, Tom Politzer, and Mike Bogart, playing an array of songs by local legends Santana and Tower of Power, and musical icons Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, and more
