Miguel Migs - Those Things

Released on Salted Music, 3/20/07

Miguel Migs (a.k.a. Petalpusher) releases his second much anticipated solo album, Those Things, under his very own label (a sub label of Om Records) on Salted Music with a loaded guest list. Those Things summons the talent of those Miguel Migs has either charted tempos with in the past or those he has long admired. Amongst the sparkling guest stars is the legendary Fred Ross from Sly and the Family Stone, reggae frontman Junior Reid of Black Uhuru, long time collaborator Lisa Shaw, Aya of Sweetback, Sadat X of Brand Nubian, Tim Fuller and more…

This impressive A-list deep house DJ has extensive associations with other artists, other labels (Naked Music, Transport, Yoshitoshi, and NRK) and has brought his remix work into rapid rise, showing up in the limelight of Macy Gray, Brittany Spears, and Lionel Ritchie. His numerous productions have served international blitz, slipping into numerous top compilation releases all around the dance-world. Unarguably, this accretion is not too shabby for the guitar riffing, reggae-rooted, Santa Cruz native out of California.

The mark of his style is easy, airy, fluid and uplifting. Often found are the smooth female vocals pitching its soul against the laid back disco beat that he reveres to be enjoyed at home or the dance floor. He is unabashed with the dance floor appeal as he is with the balance meandering the boundaries of house music. Combining live instrumentation with light electronic groove resulting into a huge sound with his underlay of Jamaican/Afro-percussive beats.

While the thirteen original tracks running out of Those Things are not a profound mind bender nor will you find your oracle, what the album will do is polish your surroundings in a cushy unhurried state of glee, worry-free into your next moment.
