( ( ( HOUSEPITALITY ) ) ) proudly welcomes a man who needs no introduction in the SF Bay Area, a magician behind the decks, an institution in late night (and Sunset) magic:

::SOLAR (Sunset Soundsystem | SF)::

Opening set by:

::TYREL WILLIAMS (Housepitality, SS Records | SF/CHI)::

Lounge takeover by:

::MIKE BEE (Vinyl Dreams, Housepitality | SF)::

For most of our regular fans, there’s not much we have to say about Solar. He’s a founding member and spiritual leader of the Sunset Soundsystem parties, which began here in the bay area and now have reached as far away as Croatia.

He’s an immensely talented local favorite whose talent is finally being recognized across the globe after his tour opening for world phenom Dixon. He’s a crate digger whose ability to find the best records is held in awe by many of the best DJs in the bay area.

He’s… also a super amazing guy who we count as a dear friend and trusted colleague in this business of nightlife.

(It’s also his birthday… so come deliver some bday spankings!)

Opening up the night, our own vinyl maven, Solar’s friend and housemate, and fellow longhair Tyrel Williams. You probably know who he is by now too, so I’ll keep it short and say that no one should ever miss a Tyrel set; never.

In the back, but certainly not least, our Groove Lounge specialist and fine CHUG purveyor, DJ MIKE BEE, who also happens to own the best dance music vinyl record shop in town aka VINYL DREAMS. Go buy some records from him in Lower Haight sometime… you won’t regret it. Also come out and dance in the back room at the Housepit.

Anyway, that’s a HELL of a local lineup, if we do say so ourselves.

When Solar began Djing in the early 90's, San Francisco's Clubs and Raves were places where musically, anything could happen. To be a DJ in this time and place meant having a fierce dedication to the craft of creating electrifying music for people to dance all night. A deep record collection and bold creativity were what people valued in the Djs they would go hear every weekend.

In 1994, Solar and a couple other Djs began bringing a sound system and a generator to the Berkeley Marina for free gatherings to dance and watch the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline. As these Sunset parties grew from dozens to hundreds, and now thousands of attendees, Solar become one San Francisco's best loved DJs. Known for his eclectic sets, blending Techno, Disco, House, Electro and electronic music with the energy of Punk and Psychedelic Rock, Solar has built a loyal following among a discerning crowd of dancers and party goers used to hearing every touring DJ you've ever heard of. Nearly twenty years of playing music for crowds large and small has evolved a style of Djing that seamlessly fuses the best of classic and modern dance music. More recently as resident and co-creator of the No Way Back parties, Solar has earned the reputation of a DJ devoted to the art of mixing and selecting music without regard to ephemeral fashion, trends or fads.

Tyrel Williams

Tyrel has been a mainstay of Chicago’s underground House scene for years. He began mixing records in 1999. Soon later he landed a job at Gramaphone Records where he spent many years building his collection of dance records. He spent 2008-2011 building his Acid Test residency at Smart Bar, which is an all vinyl House / Techno party. Guests have included Derrick Carter, Traxx, Justin Long, Convextion, Dave Aju, and Tevo Howard. Tyrel has recently moved to San Francisco where he is a resident DJ for Housepitality. He has also recently started a project with Bryan Bai-ee called Secret Studio with releases on their own label called SS Records.

Mike has been a pro DJ for going on 20 years. Former music journalist (XLR8R, Urb, SF Bay Guardian), club promoter (La Belle Epoque, Bottom Heavy, Safe, Future Shock - all SF), label owner (True Intent) and buyer for Amoeba SF's electronic music section for 6 years (13 at Amoeba total). Mike now operates a record store called Vinyl Dreams (in the Lower Haight district of SF), (, and is a resident of Housepitality.
