Description

Landmark's Bridge Theatre is proud to announce it will be presenting its eighth annual summer midnight movie series Midnight Mass with your hostess Peaches Christ, beginning July 1st and 2nd, 2005. Hostess Peaches Christ* is back again with eight more nights of midnight movie mania. She assures us however that the films are only the beginning. Be more afraid of her legendary and award winning pre-show! Midnight Mass has grown to become a uniquely San Franciscan phenomenon attracting sell-out crowds far and wide. Each evening features its own event in the form of pre- show performances, costumes, contests, audience participation, décor, celebrity guests, and more!

This summer Peaches kicks off the series with an extra special opening weekend blowout and Russ Meyer tribute. Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! was the very first film screened at Midnight Mass' grand opening eight years ago. In honor of Russ Meyer's passing last September we celebrate his cult film career and re-screen the exploitation masterpiece Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

Peaches is thrilled to announce that the one and only Tura Satana takes the stage for a unique and unforgettable Bay Area appearance! The star of Faster Pussycat! and pop culture icon, Tura Satana joins Peaches onstage (both nights) for a rare interview, and audience Q&A. She will also be available for autograph signing at a post-show fan meet and greet. For phone interviews contact Tura's manager Siouxzan at 818-888-2400.

Peaches Christ is proud to report that the San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival returns this summer to close the Midnight Mass summer series on August 20th. A brand new program of the Bay Area's best and most outrageous original short films will be presented!

All seats are only $10 for all shows!. The full event schedule can be found at peacheschrist.com. For ticket availability and theatre specific information call the Bridge Theatre at 415-751-3213 or purchase advance tickets at moviefone.com or 777-FILM.

*Peaches Christ's alter-ego Joshua Grannell has been a Bay Area Filmmaker and performance artist for over nine years. His short films have appeared in festivals internationally. In addition to producing Peaches' Midnight Mass series, Joshua created and runs the SF Underground Short Film Festival. The SF Frameline Film Festival presents a retrospective of Joshua's films at the Castro Theatre on June 19th.
7/1 & 7/2 FASTER PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! Tura Satana Live and In Person
Our opening weekend Russ Meyer tribute film! Three buxom go-go girls go gaga in this sexy cult classic from the Mammary Master himself, director Russ Meyer (Vixen, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls). Tura Satana leads the high-stepping trio-Watusi dancers all-on a whirlwind tour of violence and seduction. Don't mess with these sports-car-driving chicks, 'cuz they'll just as soon run you down! Haji and Lori Williams co-star. (USA, 1966)

*Join Peaches at the Church of Satana for this opening weekend blow-out! Tura Satana herself takes the stage for a rare appearance, interview, and audience Q&A. 7/9 SING-ALONG TRUTH OR DARE & Midnight Mass Drag-Umentary: Spin the Bottle
The blond with ambition (Madonna) sheds her public persona to offer an intimate, revealing, and hilarious portrait of her American life in this behind-the-scenes look at the reigning goddess of pop music. Watch Madonna cajole, scold and cavort with her dancers; bicker with boyfriend Warren Beatty; stand up to the authorities who want to censor segments of her concert; and insult Kevin Costner. Oh, and there's some pretty spectacular sing-along concert performances, too. Directed by Alek Keshishian. (USA, 1991)

*View the brand new and revealing Midnight Mass drag-umentary Spin the Bottle! Witness special guest Kimo's legendary drag spectacle tribute celebrating "20 Years of Madonna in 15 Minutes"! Come as your favorite Madonna. Lyrics will be projected for optimal performance! No lip-synching please. Singing is required.

7/16 STRAIT-JACKET with Joan-A-Palooza
Joan Crawford as an axe-wielding wacko? You betcha! Your worst nightmares come true in this zany, low-budget chop-'em-up, made to capitalize on the box office success of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? Will Diane Baker and Leif Erickson lose their heads? Please don't reveal the surprise ending! Written by Robert Bloch (Psycho), and directed by William Castle (The Tingler, House on Haunted Hill.) (USA, 1964)

*The Joan-A-Palooza multi-media extravaganza awaits you! All things Joan, all night long featuring Joan videos, Joan performances, and more! Joan Crawford turns 101 years old this year and in honor of Peaches' all time favorite movie star we present Joan Crawford 101, lessons in all things Joan.

7/23 PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE & Peaches' Playhouse
When his beloved bike is stolen, Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) sets out on a hilarious cross-country trek that leads him to the basement of the Alamo and the backlot at Warner Bros. Studios. Highlights include Large Marge (the truck-driving ghost) and Pee-wee's Big Shoe Dance ("Tequila!"). Co-written by Phil Hartman, Michael Varhol and Reubens. Directed by Tim Burton (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, Ed Wood). (USA, 1985)

7/30 BARBARELLA with Drag-Queen Roller-Derby
Jane Fonda got her first workout-sans spacesuit!- during the opening credits of this campy, widescreen space opera about a sexy, 41st-century adventuress. With Milo O'Shea as Duran Duran (yep, that's where the band got its name), John Phillip Law as Pygar, David Hemmings as Dildano (!) and Anita Pallenberg as The Great Tyrant. Directed by Fonda's then-husband Roger Vadim (And God Created Woman). (France/Italy, 1968)

*Barbarella has to be seen to be believed and so does our annual Drag-Queen Roller-Derby Competition! Men in heels strap on some wheels in a sci-fi inspired battle of good versus evil. Mandatory release of liability forms must be signed and presented for admission to this evening's show.

8/6 TEEN WITCH & the World's Largest Witch Convention
Louise (Robin Lively) was just another misfit teenager who pined for a handsome boy and a popular life- until a chance meeting with Madame Serena (Zelda Rubinstein, Poltergeist) reveals she is a direct descendant of Salem witches! Now, if she can figure out how to use her powers, she'll trump all her old antagonists and become The Most Popular Girl. Dick Sargent ("Bewitched"), Joshua Miller, Marcia Wallace and Shelly Berman co-star. Written by Second City alumnus Robin Menken and cult auteur Vernon Zimmerman (Fade to Black); directed by Dorian Walker (Making the Grade). (USA, 1989)

*Each year Peaches hand picks a "secret treasure" title that few have seen. This year's pick cannot be missed. Teen Witch has it all- bad musical numbers, shocking 80's fashions, Tangina from Poltergeist, and more! Peaches is the keynote speaker at the World's Largest Convention of Witches and her pre-show promises to be wiccan fierce!

8/13 SHOWGIRLS & Free lapdances with every large corn!
The mother of all contemporary camp classics, this celluloid travesty about naked Las Vegas dancers stars a deliriously over-the-top Elizabeth Berkley, who (almost literally) claws her way to the top, high- stepping on Gina Gershon and anyone else in her way. Blame it on the doggie chow! Written by Joe Eszterhas and directed by Paul Verhoeven (both of Basic Instinct infamy). Buy a soda and show your friends what you can do with an ice cube! (USA, 1995)

*Come for the closing night pre-show of legend; a Midnight Mass tradition, where Peaches & co. promise a surprise spectacular. As always, free lap- dances with every large corn!
