MFA Never joins the national dialogue around the value of advanced art degrees with a juried exhibition of 25 Bay Area artists who have chosen alternatives to the MFA route. This project considers the exclusivity of higher education in terms of financial viability, and in representing artists of color, queer artists, and "outsider" artists among others.
Juried by three Bay Area arts professionals, the twenty-five artists included in this exhibition were selected to represent a diversity of media, varying levels of commercial success, and a wide range of content and artistic identities.
An archive publication of all 184 MFA Never submissions will accompany the exhibition.
