I am very pleased to announce the first exhibition of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Center's clients’ photography! We have been able to offer a photography group to our clients through an SFGH Foundation grant and a Janssen grant which provided us with support in our commitment to provide excellent client care this year. This photography class allows clients to both learn a new skill and improve on the wellness and strengths that they already possess. The photos they have taken are *amazing*.
The goals of this exhibition are:
1) to provide clients with an opportunity to express themselves artistically
2) To provide clients with a sense of pride and recognition that comes with seeing their art on display in a public venue
3) to educate the public about the MHRC’s mission
4) to reduce stigma by educating the public about the people who have chronic and severe mental illnesses by demonstrating that our clients have great capacity for artistic talent and
5) To raise funds so that programming like this may continue at the MHRC.
Please join us for complimentary beer, wine, and pizzas at our opening party (generously provided by Atlas Cafe). Our clients worked really hard on this project and are looking forward to this well-earned recognition.
