In the true spirit of an Irish gathering, and in celebration of her new CD, “Ceol Ceantair”, Dublin-born singer/song-writer *Melanie O’Reilly will dazzle you with her unique soundscape of Celtic jazz. Called “Extraordinary, …whether she sings jazz, Irish traditional or Jacques Prevert” by Le Telegramme, she wll be joined by spectacular special guests from the cultural worlds of both jazz and celtic.

On saxophone is acclaimed virtuoso George Brooks [who has performed with Terry Riley, John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Larry Coryell ] and on piano is Frank Martin who has performed with Sting, Stevie Wonder, Narada Michael Walden and others. Also joining this memorable cast of Celtic jazz artists is Fred Randolph on bass and Surya Prakesh on percussion. Opening the show will be “Ashling”, featuring Sean O Nuallain on guitar, Anne Goess on fiddle, andi introducing Corwin Zeckley on jazz violin.

Melanie is recognised in Downbeat magazine as one of Ireland's international jazz representatives, having performed at festivals and venues worldwide, from NY's Lincoln Center to the Edinburgh International Festival, from the French Festival Musique d'Ici et d'Ailleurs to the Irish Writer's Festival in Washington DC. Her music has been featured in Frontline/PBS documentaries , and she is also the creator and host of the award-winning radio show "Jazz on the Bay", first broadcast on RTE.

Claimed as ‘”virtuoso, soulful and sultry” by the Edinburgh International Festival, the Contra Costa Times praised Melanie’s "gorgeous sound", and The Rough Guide to Irish Music called her creations "spellbinding . . . uplifting music from a true innovator."
