Meeting Conflict with Compassion

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Saturday, August 16, 2014
1 - 4 pm

Engage the nature of conflict by meeting differences with wisdom, compassion and skill.

How often have you wished you could take back angry words? Or hoped you could find the courage to address conflict with someone? Disagreement is too often avoided or spins out of control. Either way, feelings are usually hurt, and relationships harmed—sometimes irreparably.

Discover a new view and experience of conflict—that it can be transformative and lead to closer relationships.

We will begin by looking at the causes of conflict and continue by looking at our own views and reactions, experimenting with how mindfulness can begin shifting conflict to understanding. Then we will look at how conflict arises when our views and experience collide with those of a partner, friend or colleague.

Practical tools, including perception and the words we use, will be offered to navigate tricky and charged interactions. A packet will guide you through the workshop and provide help with putting what you learn into practice right away.

Fees: $40; $32 limited income. Scholarships available.
