San Rafael, CA: The Smith Ranch Homes upscale retirement center will be hosting a lecture by medical marijuana pioneer and advocate Dr. Larry Bedard of Marin County, CA on Monday July 27th, 2015.
In his lecture, held from 1:30-2:30 pm at the Smith Ranch Homes, Dr. Bedard will discuss the history, science, and physiology of medicinal cannabis. He will also discuss the medical conditions treated with medical cannabis and the benefits and risks of use. The audience will learn how to obtain a cannabis recommendation and where to obtain medicinal cannabis, with ample time for Q&A.
About Dr. Larry Bedard: In 1974, Dr. Larry Bedard became involved in the “War on Drugs!” as a psychiatrist and a Lt. Cdr. in the U. S. Navy at the Naval Drug Rehabilitation Center in NAS Jacksonville, Florida. He experienced first hand the detrimental impact and failure of the war on drugs and made it his mission to persuade and change medical marijuana policies across the country, having seen the medical benefits of marijuana firsthand early on his career.
In 1981 Dr. Bedard became the first Board Certified Emergency Physician to practice ER medicine in Marin County and served as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Marin General Hospital from 1979 to 1986. He has been active in his community ever since, and has been serving as a Director on Marin General Hospital Board for the last several years.
In 1996 Dr. Bedard was sworn in as the President of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and continues to actively pursue the discussion of medical marijuana amongst his peers and community.
