McEvoy Ranch, an idyllic 550 acre private ranch located in the rolling hills of Marin County, is celebrating the official release of the 2011 vintage of their proprietary red blend on Saturday, October 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. Appropriately named Red Piano in honor of the red piano once owned by Elton John that now adorns the stunning Chinese Pavilion on property, this vibrant and distinctive wine is a harmonious composition of estate-grown Mediterranean varieties. As captivating and distinctive as the music-filled moments inspired by Elton John’s famous instrument, Red Piano reflects what is uniquely McEvoy Ranch. Red Piano is both savory and tart on the palate with a dusty minerality filled with aromas of dark red and blue fruits, purple flowers, white pepper, anise and savory herbs. Toast and oak spice notes on the persistent finish pair readily with an array of bold flavors.
As part of McEvoy Ranch’s “Wine + Red Piano†experience, guests will enjoy an intimate evening dedicated to the wine and its namesake instrument. Celebrated pianist Sarah Cahill, called "a virtuosic yet naturally fluid player who somehow manages to coax a liquid sound from the piano even when battering the keys and raising hell,†by New Music Connoisseur, will perform for guests during an exclusive concert taking place an hour prior to dinner. Throughout the performance, guests will be seated on Francis Cape’s famous Utopian Benches in order to inspire a sense of community among attendees, one of the many values upheld at McEvoy Ranch. Afterwards, an elegant multi-course dinner highlighting the 2011 Red Piano wine and prepared with ingredients from McEvoy Ranch’s autumn gardens will take place in the striking Chinese pavilion at the ranch.
