Hell, it's like the internet came to life and chose to make lo-fi bedroom pop. Mars and her boyfriend Titanic speak directly to you with their youtube 'computer show,' each episode has a title like "Delete Your Facebook", and "Guns Should Be Illegal". There's even a great rant on Amanda Bynes and the internet hubbub that followed. It's a pretty weird idea (so is selling candy necklaces in your webstore alongside your merch), but in this day of tumblr teens and internet addictions Mars Argo is ahead of the game. They actually self-identify as "trans-media" artists, which is totally fitting with their creative output because they started out making small movies on youtube but decided to expand into musical production when their instrumental background music was so well-received. When you actually get to hear the music of Mars Argo, it's an electronic indie pop hallucination -- imagine the voice of a psychedelic Gwen Stefani mixed with a little helium over a bed of layered guitars and synths. Live, Mars mans (or womans) the mic with her ethereal voice and delicate swaying while her band, Titanic plus two others, holds down the dreamy rhythms.
