Understated Yucatecan Food in Noe Valley

Those unfamiliar with Yucatecan cuisine may expect too much from Mi Lindo Yucatan. The atmosphere is pleasant, the service is friendly, and the food is underwhelming. Simple chicken broths, turkey dishes and plain tomato sauces are staples at the quiet Noe Valley restaurant. Fogheads and hipsters will feel equally at ease. More »

It is always odd when the chief songwriter and creative force in a group decides to go solo. This is not an uncommon phenomenon. Seattleites Pedro the Lion bring their lilted indie-pop to Bottom of the Hill in support of their new CD, Achilles Heel, their first new release since 2002's Control. Mainstays on the indie rock scene, and long lumped in the same category as bands such as Sebadoh, Hayden, and Bedhead, Pedro The Lion might not have broad pop appeal, but their songs are pretty and subdued and will have you recalling them long after they've stopped playing. More »
