MAKE IT FUNKY presents THE FUNK IS NOT ENOUGH

And we're back for a special edition of our Make It Funky party series. This time we will be hosting our event in the MISSION at one of our favorite bars in the city BLONDIES! The martini's will be flowing....everyone whose been here knows they are strong.

On the music side we have assembled a lineup of DJs that we know will bring the FUNK. We're very excited and lucky to be able to announce our headliner DJ M3, a true veteran of the SF house scene who brings over 20 years of musical experience to the tables. Also supporting will be Nil from Mother Records, one of our favorite labels in the city known for their monthly Spilt Milk parties at Milk Bar in the upper haight. To round out the lineup we have resdents Fortune Cookie and 404 warming up the evening

DJ M3

Manny Alferez, known and locally adored as M3, achieved cult status in the Bay Area house music scene through the impeccable combination of a magnanimous understanding of the crowd and his innovative signature house music. Born and raised in San Jose, Manny began his music career in 1990 promoting Bay Area massives such as Get Down, The Gathering, and Deep Space. M3’s original smooth, downtempo sound channeled Rick James, The Screaming Jay Hawkins and Led Zeppelin before maturing into the elevated, addictive house beats for which he is distinctively known. He honed his style performing along side giants such as Marshall Jefferson, Tony Humphries, Groove Armada, Derrick Carter, Cajmere, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Doc Martin, Del the Funky Homosapien, and Rick James.) Manny continues to spread his brand at global venues in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Moscow, Nottingham, Mallorca, Paris and Prague. He has also just finished remixes for Groove Armada and Dirty Vegas, and is currently working on a new album due out summer of 2012, Under "SILK TOUCH" Locally Manny focuses his time on promotions, music production, and performance with, Green Gorilla Lounge, and One Off parties. He can be found at venues with a brimming crowd of local flavors. Pairing up with the Sunset Crew, he also co-hosts the
wildly successful Fully Loaded every other month. Most recently Manny opened Monarch, with Chris from Om Records. The hip local dance spot that magically achieves a crowd as diverse as SF itself. And put another stamp on San Francisco.

Nil

Zero, zilch, o, ought, naught, empty set, null, zip, nothing, nada, none. The elusive producer/DJ known as Nil (a.k.a. Neel Rao) has been quietly amassing experience matching beats since his teenage years growing up in the Bay. With professional training as an electrical engineer, computer scientist, and gourmet barista, Neel delivers intelligent productions and sagacious sets that provide enlightened entertainment to those fortunate enough to partake.

Fortune Cookie

For Michael Fortune, music is the dominant influence on his life. Perhaps it began with his first concert, seeing Earth Wind & Fire at age five. Maybe it was starting to DJ and host events in 2008. Even though Northern California has remained home, his dedication has given him the opportunity to play gigs in places such as Argentina and the Turks & Caicos islands and alongside industry heavyweights such as Worthy, Christian Martin, Diplo, Oliver, Viceroy, White Noize, and Dillon Francis. Michael's eclectic sets bring together elements of funk, disco, deep house, and latin music all bound together by an underlying groove. What hasn’t changed is his passion for forward thinking music that brings people together.

MAKE IT FUNKY

The funk keeps a party fun, freaky, and fresh. It’s an energy that can be felt when friends get together to have a good time. Party people who know how to boogie are willing to embrace it. The music reflects this with the right touch of disco, house, and groove that pays homage to the classics while pushing the envelope forward. Making it funky is a phenomenon that translates beyond the party.
