Make Cheese! Fundraiser for Excelsior & Mission Science Workshops
Roll up your sleeves, put on your goggles and dive into a vat of milk proteins at Excelsior Science Workshop. This hands-on cheesemaking shindig will teach you how to make (and stretch) your own fresh mozzarella while at the same time raising funds for one of our community's most important education non-profits. Class starts with liquid milk and ends with buttery bites. Along the 'whey', we'll cover emulsions, enzymes and why ESW is such an amazing spot for kids across the city. Adult drinks and other delicious accoutrements included thanks to our sponsors and (Mission Workshop) neighbors; BiRite Market, Tartine Bakery and Dandelion Chocolate.
All participants bring home a freshly stretched ball of mozzarella to devour later (or on the ride home).
Class will be lead by Louella Hill, neighbor to Excelsior Science Workshop and author of Kitchen Creamery, a book on making yogurt, butter and cheeses in your home kitchen.
7 - 9:30 p.m. at Excelsior Science Workshop (upstairs).
