Chicago’s Reader raved, "His musicianship is unassailable…a combination of sleek-handed dexterity and imagination…a happy marriage of blues authenticity and foot-pleasing danceability. This is a young musician of unlimited enthusiasm and nearly unlimited potential having the time of his life and excelling at every stop along the way."
Lucky Peterson was discovered by blues legend Willie Dixon when he was three years old, released his first record at five and soon after appeared on The Tonight Show. Trained by keyboardists Bill Doggett and Jimmy Smith, Peterson went on to play behind Little Milton, Bobby “Blue” Bland and Kenny Neal. On return from the “Young Blues Giants” tour of Europe, he signed first with Alligator, then Verve, Blue Thumb and Birdology/Dreyfus, where he recorded what Amazon.com called “his finest album,” Black Midnight Sun, in 2003. The New Yorker called him “a master of the guitar, organ and microphone.”
Whose real name is Judge Kenneth Peterson, Lucky Peterson was born in December 1964 in Buffalo, New York. His earliest musical memories are from an early age, since his father, James Peterson, had the Governor's Inn, a blues club and renowned jazz drained all local artists and those visiting the city. The aspiring musician so immersed in music very early and quickly learns the essence of blues and all its secrets, starting with its basic message, the transcendence of everyday that passes through the scansion of these words and haunting melodies with hypnotic rhythms ...Happy as a fish in water in this pool of creativity, Lucky Peterson has never hidden his status and particularly lucky child prodigy. He has always had and he also sings in this majestic piece which gives its name to his new album "The Son Of A Bluesman"
Tamara Tramell Peterson will already be known to a wide international audience as plain Tamara Peterson. Wife and performing partner of Lucky Peterson (surely the number one performer on the current blues scene...) Tamara has already made two acclaimed albums and guested on Lucky's recent sets. But now she is ready to grab her own solo career again (she was a rising star on the Dallas/Fort Worth scene before she met and married Lucky). With a taster EP release in late 2014 and the first proper Tamara Tramell Peterson album set for 2015 and a formidable touring schedule with Lucky both across the U.S. and Europe a 'new' star performer is amongst us-Tamara, in the company of producer/songwriter Steve Washington is producing a fascinating mix of southern soul and modern R&B which manages to also combine both tough bluesy edges and a pop female vocalist sassiness-a unique artist!!
