Description

"Love you to Death" Belly Dance Fusion Concert by world music band Kardash featuring internationally-acclaimed and award-winning dancers and choreographers Surreyya Hada, Nyla Crystal, Terry Del Giorgio, Elizabeth Strong and other local and international favorites, invite you to this special artistic collaboration event at Red Poppy Arthouse.

Doors open at 6:30 PM. Show starts at 7:00 PM sharp.

Love is universal, love touches us all, yet can be elusive, dangerous, daring and so...metimes...deadly. Historical Femme Fatales come to life, jumping off pages of history books, tin types, old paintings and holy books, and reinact tales of the ultimate sacrifice...Love.

Two worlds collide as Kardash's original score weaves a sonic spell and musical landscape, evoking tales of love and loss, melancholy and joy, soul searching and sacrifice, revelry and revenge.

Don't miss this multicultural night of music and dance extravaganza at the Red Poppy Art House "an international neighborhood micro-center for artistic and intercultural life in San Francisco".

More about KARDASH:
Kardash is a world fusion music duo formed in 2009 in San Francisco by guitar player Martin Huerta and percussionist Murat Bayhan. The duo has worked in many other projects in different genres before and with Kardash they fuse all these elements into one which they call "eastern fusion of rhythm and ambience". Kardash has a wide range of influences in their music such as traditional Turkish, Persian, Indian, Arabic, Spanish music and other modern styles such as funk, fusion, rock and jazz. Kardash recently finished their 2 weeks run at the ODC Theater with the innovative and edgy LEVYdance Company composing and performing music for Benjamin Levy's choreography "Our Body Remembers". Kardash is currently working on their debut album "Enlightment" which will be released in Spring 2011.

- SF Chronicle: "the two-man group Kardash sets the pulse pounding."

- SF Bay Guardian: "Kardash create the aural landscape"

At Red Poppy Kardash will be featuring:

Bhargav Citla: tabla and cajon,
Van Spragins: fretless bass
Sam Foster: bendir, riq and doumbek
Tolga Gokcek: doumbek
and more guest musicians to be announced....
