Local Sirens: Women in Music Fest is a free, quarterly performance series curated by Women’s Audio Mission with support from California Arts Council that features Bay Area women composers and musicians. The series promotes local women artists and provides high-quality, accessible music events to Bay Area residents and the SOMA/Central Market neighborhoods.
In June, Local Sirens will feature three exceptional, local female-fronted artists/bands:
Built for the Sea (Lia Rose): Built for the Sea’s oceanic indie rock has earned them spots at the SXSW Music Festival (2007, 2008), San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival (2007, 2008, 2009), and the Live105 studios. The Bay Area quintet creates a sound that Live105 Music Director Aaron Axelsen has praised as “very mesmerizing, very hypnotic”. Website:

Antique Naked Soul: They rep the "Town" otherwise known as Oakland, California, a place known for crime and danger, but filled with incredible art, music and a beacon of social justice and activism. That's where Antique Naked Soul was born in the Spring of 2012. Two-time Oakland Indie Award and Oaktown Music Festival Nominee, Antique Naked Soul (ANS) is a beatbox-sing soul band. They build and loop beats live on stage using only their voices but they create as much sound as a full band of instruments. Website: http://antique-edutainment.com/antique-naked-soul/
Lauren O'Connell is a singer/songwriter from Rochester, New York. She has released three full length solo albums and one EP as a duo with Nataly Dawn. She began uploading videos of herself performing original songs on YouTube soon after releasing her debut album Sitting in Chairs. Her first videos were simple one takes with just a guitar, but they soon progressed to layered harmonies and accompaniment, usually with O'Connell playing all of the instruments herself. Many of her fans cite her appearances in videos with other YouTube artists, mainly those with best friend Julia Nunes, as what first drew them to her music. Website: http://laurenoconnell.com
