“Dance music is all about drawing energy out of people in a positive way.” This is Aaron Pope’s belief, and that’s what most people remember about his DJ sets – his incredible energy. A longtime music fan and dance floor resident, Aaron brings this joy and love of music behind the decks with him, and at every gig he is constantly dancing and interacting with the crowd.
His house sets encompass a broad range of styles and influences, he refuses to define his taste. “There’s so much great music out there, it’s silly to confine yourself to just one genre. Each crowd deserves its own unique experience, and nobody wants to listen to the same type of sound hour after hour. The challenge is to keep the groove, while continuing to surprise and delight.”
Currently living in San Francisco, Aaron has been a professional DJ there for several years. He has played at almost every venue in San Francisco, for a wide range of promoters, and currently holds several local residencies. He has played in New York and Chicago, as well as abroad in Brazil, the Caribbean and Ibiza, and is currently exploring other international opportunities. He spun alongside the likes of Roger Sanchez, The Chemical Brothers, Jo Mills, Michael Anthony, Derrick Carter and Felix the Housecat.
In the summer of 2004 Aaron achieved a personal goal of his, to play on the Terrace at Space in Ibiza. The Terrace is regarded by many as one of the best venues in the world, and thanks to Aaron’s hard work and commitment to his craft, he was invited to spin there in June of 2004.
In addition to playing music, Aaron is an avid outdoor recreation fan. He spends much of his time backcountry skiing, mountain biking, hiking, rafting, climbing and wakeboarding. He is not one of those DJ’s who spends all night out and sleeps all day long.
