Moghimi will read from her story "The Adventures of Anoo and Pashmack” at MY Museum located at 425 Washington Street in Monterey on Friday, January 30th from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. After the reading, Moghimi will lead the children in playful, interactive exercises based on the book to teach them to listen to and recognize their sensory experiences.
They will also have an opportunity to share their experiences and be validated Moghimi’s colorful illustrated book inspires children to not only tap into their five senses, but develop a sixth sense and to view their world from unique and creative perspectives. "I've been in the field of education for a long time, and my background is in psychology," Moghimi said. "One thing I've realized is that today's children are disconnecting with their feelings. The number of U.S. children who are on antidepressants is at its highest rate ever.
Moghimi said her book inspires children to develop a sixth sense by becoming more aware of their five senses. She will lead the children through a series of fun exercises that teach children to value and have respect for their own feelings as well as for life
Moghimi has a master's degree in psychology, with an emphasis on creativity in education, from John F. Kennedy University in the Bay Area and attended Animal Spirit Healing and Education Network in Newfane, N.Y. where she took classes in animal communication.
“The Adventures of Anoo and Pashmack" (Balboa Press), her first children's book, became an outlet for her to share her knowledge and experiences and spread her message of the interconnectedness with other living species on earth.
