Join Lindy and Alex as they play The Monkey House in Berkeley, an intimate listening room created in the spirit of old Vaudeville.
A lustrous sheen of shimmering electronic orchestration frames the evocative voice of singer/songwriter Lindy LaFontaine. Segueing effortlessly from an intimate lower timbre into a soaring arc, it is a voice of rare power. It is the sound of her soul. Lindy brings a world view to her music. Growing up in extraordinary locales from Bangladesh to Washington D.C.; Cairo, Egypt to California, she graduated from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) with honors, before returning to the US and eventually landing in Berkeley CA. In March, 2011, Lindy’s cover of “Low” by Cracker, won Best Cover Song at The 10th Independent Music Awards. She’s currently creating an album of finely crafted trip hop songs.
A product of the early San Francisco indie music scene, Alex Jimenez has spent the majority of his life creating music to share with his fellow musicians and community. An avid guitar player and singer, Alex is currently focusing on his solo work, a blend of acoustic pop meets gritty blues. In 2012/13 his 2 year, fifteen show odyssey, 'The Usual Suspects Songwriter Showcase', was a critical favorite, showcasing some of the Bay Area’s finest talent. Currently, his new EP, ‘Inside’, is being mixed by Ryan Clark, and Alex is currently writing songs for his next full length album.
In 2013, Lindy and Alex joined forces, and started collaborating, singing and playing on each other’s songs. For this show, they will both play solo sets, and then end the evening together, playing songs featuring guitar, keyboard, and their beautiful 2 part harmonies.
