It’s a story of a musical fairytale. One night, Nili and Ben met in a bar. Something magical happened. She sings, he plays the guitar. They began to create their first songs, with a folk / blues influence. Without really knowing where that could lead them but realizing how well they worked together, the very next day they started writing their first track. LILLY WOOD & the Prick were born -‐‐ disenchanted, sparkling pop music amped up with fun.
Born in Israel, having lived in London and in California, Nili had never sung in public until then. Ben, 100% Parisian, his guitar always nearby and looking for the right partner to become creative. In 2009, thanks to the Internet, LILLYWOOD appeared in France, with their massive hit “Down in the drain”, a fanciful and quirky video, also a surprising cover of Santigold ‘L.E.S Artistes”In 2010, the audience finally discovered “Invincible Friends”, a first tenderly rebellious album. These two self-‐‐taught artists went through all the sounds that youthful curiosity was igniting within them: subtle pop melodies, electronic music arrangements, resulting in bluesy, folksy renditions.
The second album, out in 2012, was highlighted by “Middle of the Night” and “Long Way Back” hits. “The Fight” is a fearless album, dropping the contagious energy of a duo who still fight for their dreams to come true. LILLYWOOD has grown, become tougher. Nevertheless, the first and pure emotion remains. This new album, gold record with more than 50,000 sales, is a massive success. Nominee as Artist of the Year at ‘Victoires de La Musique’ in 2013 and this sold-‐‐out tour strengthened them as an inevitable French pop band. In 2014, the track “Prayer in C” remixed by the German DJ, Robin Schulz blew up in France and all over the world. More than 1,500,000 singles sold, the hit of the year in 2014.
