Let’s Go Salsa@Jessie! with Edgardo & Candela featuring Calixto Oviedo

Let’s Go Salsa@Jessie!, the open-air salsa dance party in Jessie Square (near the Contemporary Jewish Museum), takes place on the third Thursday from May to August from 6:00pm – 7:30pm with salsa dance lessons at the beginning of every program.

Uruguayan-born conga drummer and lead singer Edgardo Cambón and his talent-laden salsa band Candela have been setting Bay Area dance floors on fire for three decades. With a rhythmically charged repertoire of salsa, timba, merengue, and bachata, Cambón has honed a body of songs featuring his original poetic lyrics and soaring tenor vocals, a sound captured on a series of acclaimed albums. For this special concert Candela is joined by special guest timbalero/drummer from Cuba, Calixto Oviedo, a master best known for his work with the cutting edge NG La Banda and the traditionalist Afro-Cuban All Stars.
