Description organic "We live in the body which is form proceeding through time. The body is always present. When I am fully in the body, I experience a sense of timelessness. By being present in each moment, the past and the future are easily accessible. I am a filter allowing energy and experience to pass through me." — Ledoh organic is a two-day movement workshop with performer and choreographer, Ledoh, the Artistic Director of SALT FARM Butoh. This workshop will stress the importance being mutually supportive. This time has been created so that participants have an opportunity to explore movement without analysis or any preconceived ideas. Ledoh emphasizes that we must observe our body and mind's conditioning without judgement: when we register our conditioning then we can go beyond it and get to another level. The body is always present. This is organic. This two-day movement workshop is open to performers and non-performers. All are welcome. There will be time devoted to preparing the body for deeper movement explorations. Ledoh will offer movement principals, as a catalyst for individual research. Attention will be given to how we can realize, accept, and suspend our conditioning. We aim to recognize the origin of our movement to create a starting point. Ledoh/SALT FARM LEDOH (Artistic Director) was born into the Ka-Ren culture indigenous to Burma and Northern Thailand and emigrated to the U.S. in 1972. As a soloist and member of Katsura Kan's Kyoto-based dance company, Saltimbanques, in the early 1990s he traveled and performed throughout Brazil, Europe, Thailand and Japan. In 1998 he founded SALT FARM, a performance collective based in San Francisco. Ledoh and SALT FARM generate series of site-specific performances that integrate choreography with original electronic scores, mobile set designs, and video projection. Past SALT FARM projects have focused on themes of collapse (Abacus Series, 2000-2002) and displacement (River of Sand, 2002-2004). Current project COLORMEAMERICA is the culmination of a two-year exploration titled Signature Required: Life during wartime (a project of Creative Capital). Ledoh continues to research and record the stories, dances, and rituals of his native Ka-Ren culture as raw materials for performance projects, and as a result is a featured artist in a current Berlin-based film production titled Burma Diaspora.
