The conga drum produces one of the most unique percussive sounds found in traditional songs from around the world, to today's most popular music. If you want to experiment with percussive sounds but are intimidated by the drum or never had the opportunity to, then this is perfect for you!

Javier Cabanillas is a conga player, composer and educator based out of San Francisco Bay Area. He is most recognized for his recording and touring work as conga player for GRAMMY® AWARD-Winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra for Best Latin Tropical Album of the Year.

In this 90 minute workshop, Javier will utilize his many years of expertise to teach you how to become a conga drumming expert!

You can use your own conga or use one of Javier's!

Cabanillas has played with Grammy® Award-Winning and Nominated Artists such as Poncho Sanchez, Tito Puente Jr., Tito Nieves, Adrian Terrazas-Gonzalez (The Mars Volta), Karl Perazzo (Member of the Santana Band), Brian Jordan (Lauryn Hill), Tommy Igoe (Modern Drummer Magazine), Tom E. Politzer (Tower of Power), John Santos, Jerry Gonzalez (Fort Apache Band), Ray Obiedo (Herbie Hancock), Willy Torres (Spanish Harlem Orchestra), Marlow Rosado (La Riqueña), and Orquesta La Palabra, and opened for Ry Cooder, Tania Libertad, Eek-E-Mouse.
