Our Late Fall 6-Week Courses Begin November 1st. Registration is now open!
Courses offered this term:
Opening the Senses to Beauty | Tuesdays, November 1 - December 13, 1:30 – 3pm
Instructor: Abbe Blum
Mind seems to have an affinity for beauty, no matter what our definition of beauty may be. In this practice-based course, we work with contemplative exercises and gentle sensory and movement practices that develop the positive aspects of engaging with beauty. When the senses open, the mind relaxes and a natural appreciation for the joy of being arises.
All students are welcome; no pre-requisites.
Exploring Mind and Self | Tuesdays, November 1 - December 13, 5:30 - 7pm
Instructor: Abbe Blum
The opportunity to learn from experience is among the most precious benefits life has to offer. This introductory course based on Revelations of Mind by Tarthang Tulku explores the human mind from the perspective of inner experience. What do we mean by ‘mind’? How do mind and ‘I’ relate to each other? And why does life have so many problems? We read and dialogue, and gently observe. If we don’t know how mind operates, how can we know who we are?
All students are welcome; no pre-requisites.
Dialogues with Mind | Wednesdays, November 2 - December 14, 5:30 - 7pm
Instructor: Jack Petranker
What do we know about mind and about ourselves? How can we activate the sources of inner joy and well-being that we all touch from time to time? This course will take us down unexpected pathways, inviting insight and the pleasures of an open heart. Along the way, we will gain a deeper understanding of how we make sense of the world. Based on readings from Tarthang Tulku’s new book, Dimensions of Mind.
Pre-requisite: Consent of the instructor.
