La Mar Cebichería Peruana Celebrates Chinese New Year

SEE EVENT DETAILS
La Mar Cebichería Peruana in San Francisco will celebrate Chinese New Year by showcasing, from January 23 through January 31, a la carte menu specials in the spirit of the occasion. These dishes will be served during lunch and dinner service and include Wantanes Encebichados (crunchy wanton cylinders filled with catch of the day, pickled vegetables on top of mirin, aji Amarillo and cilantro sauce); Pollo Chi Jau Kay (chicken breast roll, sliced and filled with Chinese cabbage and shitake mushroom , covered with black bean sauce, served with white fried rice); and Cangrejo Capon (deep fried whole Dungeness crab covered with a sweet and spicy capon sauce on top of a crispy rice noodle, served with white fried rice).

Always available is the restaurant's authentic Peruvian cuisine offered for brunch/lunch and dinner. Originally conceived by internationally renowned chef/owner Gastón Acurio, La Mar serves as an introduction to Peruvian flavors and dishes, with a focus on fresh seafood and with influences from China and Japan. Vegetarian and gluten free items available. Not to be missed are La Mar’s intriguing desserts.

The restaurant’s “New World” international wine list has been compiled by Master Sommelier Emmanuel Kemiji and has about 200 selections, 18 available by the glass. The list is divided between small, artisanal producers from California, and selections from South America and Spain. The full bar features an extensive selection of Pisco, Latin American, and locally produced spirits, and is known for perfectly executed Peruvian Pisco Sour and Pisco Punch cocktails, along with seasonal specials such as a Farmer's Market Cocktail and also La Mar Classics which add a Peruvian influence to timeless drinks including the Daiquiri, Mojito and Old-Fashioned.

The clean minimalist design of La Mar is the work of Cass Calder Smith and CCS Architecture, Inc. (Barbacco, La Toque, Perbacco, Restaurant Lulu, Rose Pistola, Twenty Five Lusk and many more) and it complements the beauty of the venue's historic Pier 1½ setting. Highlights of the main dining room, which seats 103 guests (plus 126 more in the bar and lounge), include an aqua blue and sea green color scheme, wood accents, an exhibition kitchen, Bay views, a high ceiling, track-mounted spot lighting, oversized windows which allow for lots of natural light, a polished marble floor in the dining room, and banquettes.

La Mar Cebichería Peruana is located on Pier 1½, on the Embarcadero across from Washington Street, in San Francisco, California. The restaurant is open daily, serving lunch or brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with dinner offered Sunday through Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 pm and Thursday to Saturday 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Parking is available at nearby garages, plus neighborhood meters are an option.
