The award-winning musical drama/operetta, La LLorona, comes to the stage at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. La LLorona tells the story of how a young Xochil Indian girl living in Mexico at the turn of the century falls desperately in love with a man of Spanish lineage. When the two are married years later, her husband betrays her, causing her to go mad and sacrifice her only child, Sara, by throwing her into the river. Now, she lives in a perpetual state of purgatory, and each time someone calls out her name, she is forced to relive her tragedy once again. Inspired by a Mexican legend, this production features music by composer Hector Armienta.
