Kiwi Time, Sentinel, & Sunrunners

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Voted #6 in the Best Clubs in America list by Rolling Stone magazine in 2013, San Francisco’s oldest and grandest nightclub, the Great American Music Hall carries guests back to an earlier, more elegant era, with its ornate balconies, soaring marble columns and elaborate ceiling frescoes. Come enjoy great food, drinks, and a local Bay Area showcase of bands!

About these locals bands:

Kiwi Time is a San Francisco band consisting of four childhood friends who grew up in a small town in Belarus, Eastern Europe. Now, years later they have come together fusing up-beat, momentous, American indie dance-rock with a touch of East European flavor. Recent winners of Stoneski Battle of the Bands 2013, the ArtRockX band competition and finalists of Hard Rock Rising, Kiwi Time has become well acquainted with their new San Francisco surroundings. In the past two years they have played more than 60 shows and festivals in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York City. As a result of their playing such venues as the Regency Ballroom, Palace of Fine Arts, Hard Rock Cafe, DNA Lounge, Cafe Du Nord, Brick and Mortar Music Hall, Macy’s Union Square, and the Mill Valley Film Festival, the band was featured on Live 105′s Top Ten Local Bands in San Francisco. Their first EP "A Part of Me" (Faultline Records 2011) was funded entirely by their loyal fans and supporters around the world through an IndieGoGo campaign. The band’s last single “Feel You Tonight” gained attention in a variety of great local music scenes, including LIVE 105′s BFD Local Bands Competition and SF Station’s The Lineup contest. Recently Kiwi Time signed their first record deal with San Francisco Bay Area’s Granted Access Studio’s by Baynetwork, a new entertainment media and tech savvy company based in Menlo Park California. The band just finished its second EP featuring 5 tracks and will be released spring 2014. The 5 tracks on the new label, produced by Dan Shea and Scott Llamas, infuse a memorable dance-rock rhythm.

Sentinel is an Indie-dream-pop three piece based in Oakland, California. The seeds of this sunny-seaside-dream-pop began with chance encounter between Tarabud (vocals/bass), Dennis Bestafka (guitars), and Billy Mowery (drums) in San Francisco. Strongly influenced by their mutual visions of 80's synth and 90's dream pop, the likes of Cocteau Twins/Smiths/U2/My Bloody Valentine/ Cure/ Flock Of Seagulls/Ocean Blue, they easily shared in the creative process together. Over the years their catalog has been expansive with variety, delving into moods and textures to mold their sound. The following five albums and several singles were self-released: Sentinel (self titled) - 2004; The Singles - 2005; Sequels & Hunches E.P. - 2007; Kites Without Strings - 2008; For Days Deep & single video- 2010; Jet Black Single & video - 2010; Dark End Single- 2011; Somewhere Else Single ~ video & dance remix - 2012. Sentinel has had extensive support from local DJ's playing them over the airwaves to Bay Area listeners. They can be heard on Live105.3 FM, KALX 90.7 FM, & KZSU 90.1 FM. Also, they have been featured by Nic Harcourt's syndicated program 'Connections Made by Guitar Center' broadcast nationally on FM stations in the USA. gc.guitarcenter.com/connections

Sunrunners
The mixture of indie rock songwriting, dreamy lyrics, and heavy elements of rock and pop rhythms has long been a staple in the alt-rock world, and Sunrunners delivers on all counts. A California-based quintet led by singer and primary songwriter Stephen Loase (Low-C), Sunrunners have largely managed to avoid the usual rock clichés, injecting a uniquely rock-influenced sound and laid back San Francisco style.
