Congolese dancer/choreographer Byb Chanel Bibene—who moved to San Francisco in 2009—brings his international dance troupe Kiandanda Dance Theater to BAM/PFA. Kiandanda, which is also the last name of Bibene's late mother, roughly translates to "something that tends to progress" or "new generation." Bibene says, "It was a way to honor women and my mother, but it also reflects the new context of working in the United States."
