Join us for a celebration of Karen Joy Fowler's inclusion on the prestigious Man Booker Prize 2014 longlist! Historically, the Man Booker Prize promotes the finest in fiction by rewarding the best novel of the year written by a citizen of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland. 2014 is the first year this prize has been opened to American Novelists.

Ebullient in tone, disturbing in material, and masquerading, at first, as a traditional family narrative, We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves is the story of Rosemary. A relentlessly talkative child, as an adult, Rosemary has wrapped herself in silence. Something happened, something so awful she has buried it in the recesses of her mind. Now her adored older brother is a fugitive, wanted by the FBI for domestic terrorism. And her once lively mother is a shell of her former self, her clever and imperious father now a distant, brooding man. And Fern, Rosemary’s beloved sister, her accomplice in all their childhood mischief? Fern’s is a fate the family, in all their innocence, could never have imagined.

Karen Joy Fowler is the author of six novels and three short story collections. The Jane Austen Book Club spent thirteen weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list and was a New York Times Notable Book. Fowler’s previous novel, Sister Noon, was a finalist for the 2001 PEN/Faulkner Award for fiction. Karen's writing has been praised by numerous literary superstars, including Ursula K. Le Guin, Michael Chabon, and Alice Sebold.
