Come celebrate the 7 year anniversary of the Bay’s most bumpin’ Balkan party, KAFANA BALKAN, Opa!
Not only was Kafana Balkan the first ongoing Balkan dance party in San Francisco, it's also the Bay Area’s biggest Balkan music party masterminded by DJ Zeljko Petkovic. Zeljko hails from the Balkans, Serbia by way of Frankfurt and now resides in San Francisco. We here in San Francisco have the great benefit of enjoying his discriminating taste and seemingly endless collection of Balkan music. DJ Zeljko clearly loves what he does and he is a crowd pleaser, concocting a genuine brew of highly danceable Balkan Brass. Zeljko lovingly promotes Balkan music and culture by producing Kafana Balkan roughly four times a year. KB event has won "The Best of" both Bay Guardian and SF Weekly weekly newspapers.

===============
INSPECTOR GADJE, an acoustic dance machine that makes the party move! Inspector Gadje brings a big sound to the beautiful and bumpin’ brass music of the Balkans. The driving, tight groove of low brass and drums with soaring melodies from trumpets, saxophones, and clarinet incite joy and dance from the very first downbeat. The band’s name is a very cute little wink to the 1980’s cartoon show “Inspector Gadget,” and also to the band's “gadje” (meaning: non-Romani ...a nicer way of saying non-gypsy) identity and their efforts to breaking “Gypsy” stereotypes.
