Join Bergeron’s and artist Christian Vien on Saturday October 25th from 6-9 pm for the opening of Mr. Vien’s show, Journey to the West. FREE drinks will be provided.
Christian Vien is an artist from Stockton California. Much of his work is inspired by the wild and wondrous musings that come along with being a child in the weird-ass 90’s. Mr. Vien’s art has been described as “playful, painful, and immediate” as it transports us to realms rife with both the cartoonish and the macabre.
Christian Vien on Journey to the West:
“I work a 9 to 5 job that could not be further away from the ‘Art World.’ The day in and day out of going back and forth on the train from home to work has left me with a numbing sensation that dulls my soul, which in turn has also awoken a fire inside of me that yearns to feel alive. Journey to the West documents things I’ve made after work in the 2 years I’ve lived in the East Bay since moving from Stockton. It is a continuous excursion of my psyche and spirit that aims to discover who I was to why I am and how I need to be in this world as honestly as possible. I just try to make things that are reflexes of my heart. I’m not too concerned with the end product as much as I am with the process that every line, cut, or color is guided by the reaction to my own self-reflection. It’s all therapy and meditation.”
Journey to the West will be on display at Bergeron’s from October 25 – November 30.
