Joshua Redman has carved out an amazing career since entering the jazz zeitgeist over twenty years ago when he won the 1991 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone competition. Almost immediately, he found himself working with the crème de la crème of the jazz world: Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Elvin Jones, and Pat Metheny, among many other top artists. As a bandleader, he has led some of the most intriguing ensembles in contemporary jazz, including his stint as the artistic director for the SFJAZZ Collective. His current group is among his finest, and consists of pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Chris Sanders, and drummer Gregory Hutchinson. Walking Shadows is Redman’s latest CD.
