Mule Gallery is pleased to present its inaugural show, featuring the work of Bay Area artists Joshua Ellingson and Michael Wertz.
Wertz and Ellingson are artists (and friends) who both create vibrant and graphic illustrations and prints. Ellingson is primarily showing portraits of aerial photography and earth imaging pioneers created for his residency at Planet Labs. Wertz also presents portraits, though his series revolves around a quote by Jeanne-Marie Roland: "The more I see of men, the more I admire dogs.”
Joshua Ellingson creates unique designs and illustrations for brands, publications, and galleries worldwide. His artwork is often described as graphic and bold, drawing inspiration from world of pop-art, technology, and the absurd. ellingson.cc
Michael Wertz is an illustrator and printmaker. His images start with the pencil, and finish as digital collages, letterpress prints, and screen prints. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, American Illustration, and the Society of Illustrators (LA). He holds a BA in French Language from UCSC and a BFA in Illustration from CCA. He is currently back at CCA teaching digital tools and screenprinting for the Illustration department. See Michael's work at wertzateria.com
