The 12th Annual Bay Area Flamenco Festival presents:
Jose Maya's «Latente» takes the audience to the deepest realms of a flamenco dancer’s soul. Maya and special guest, the legendary Juana la del Pipa are joined by singers Enrique El Extremeño and Manuel Tañé and guitarist Pino Losada.
Choreographed by Maya himself, Latente... is a powerful solo work that gives the beauty and strength of flamenco a fresh, dramatic turn. Maya’s explosive, virile style of dancing invokes the tradition — while his choreographies seem to pull flamenco forward, into the future.
Jose Maya will also be teaching workshops in San Francisco and Berkeley.
