Romer Young Gallery is pleased to host its first solo exhibition with artist Jonathan Runcio. GLASS IN THE GARDEN presents a new series of sculptural objects born out of the eroding geometries found in our built environment. The works, executed in steel, concrete and paint, pull from the vernacular architecture of the everyday and idealized modernist projects, reconciling a promised future for tomorrow with the decaying present of today.
There will be an opening reception on Friday, October 25 from 6-9pm. GLASS IN THE GARDEN will be on view from October 25 through December 14, 2013.
Jonathan Runcio was born in Montreal, Canada and currently lives and works in San Francisco, CA. His work has been exhibited at the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, Walter McBean Gallery SFAI and Oakland Museum of Art. He has also had solo and group exhibitions at Ratio 3, The Popular Workshop in San Francisco and Ebersmoore in Chicago. His work was included in the traveling exhibition Afterglow: Rethinking California Light and Space Art. Runcio was awarded a Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Fellowship in 2011 and received his MFA from the California College of the Arts.
