Ready for the Finals?
By John Blagtas (May 03, 2005)
The Pistons Almost Done? The big news is Detroit who are one mere game away from being knocked out. Now we'll see what they are truly made of. Last year they came back from 2-3 down to win. This year? This year, the team is even more reliant on Chauncey Billups. He is going to have to string together two incredible games. But who knows if he can. One bad sign has been when Lindsey Hunter's in the game, Detroit kicks it into another gear. With Billups leading the team, everything turns into a "everything's cool" kind of tempo. Chauncey: everything isn't cool.More
The 2nd Round Comes to a close
By John Blagtas (Apr 20, 2005)
Steve Nash has turned in an incredible performance so far during the playoffs. He, teammate Amare Stoudemire, and Dwayne Wade have stood out for their performances this second round. Yes, I said he shouldn't have been rewarded the MVP over Shaq, but he's sure in the running for MVP of the playoffs if he can keep playing the Suns into the Championships.More
Shaping Up
By John Blagtas (Apr 13, 2005)
Detroit vs. Indy "A Battle without a Fight" Two games in and this actually looks competitive. Detroit is such a tough team to go against, so I won't start here. Yes, bandwagon jumpers, this Detroit team is a little less imposing than last year's team, but they still have a good chance at winning it all. Let's see how it all plays out against this motivated opponent.More
NBA Season
By John Blagtas (Apr 06, 2005)
In the East, Miami and Detroit took care of business as expected while the Indy-Boston and Chicago-Washington are probably going seven. Here in the West, Phoenix, San Antonio and Seattle did what they needed to do, and the only series going deep is the Houston-Dallas series.More
The Creating of a Modern Day Prophet
By John Blagtas (Mar 22, 2005)
What first stirred my curiosity about the musical, was my love for The Beatles' music. That why probably 75% of the people were there. Our mutual love for the songs.More
Rounding Third
By John Blagtas (Feb 25, 2005)
As baseball swings into action and who shot what into who's rump is debated by Congress, the NBA is wrapping up its final month of action before the play gets serious. And when that happens, as we've seen from last week's start for March Madness, fans have a lot to look forward to.More
NoCal Hoops, Phoenix and more...
By John Blagtas (Feb 11, 2005)
Northern California basketball has been in decline with Sacramento and Golden State not really getting any closer to a championship. But with the trades this year, the Kings and Warriors have reason to hope for a better tomorrow.More
In Stride
By John Blagtas (Jan 25, 2005)
NBA fans should be loving the game right now as the season starts to come into clearer focus; trades which will shape the rest of the season are being done as I write. But coming out of the All-Star break I want to talk about the remaking of the league now taking place.More
I'll make guacamole and watch commercials while McNabb takes on "The Borg"
By John Blagtas (Jan 04, 2005)
You, I and even my mom know it's Superbowl time. That's when everybody comes together -- fan and non-fan alike -- to hang out, make that special little party treat only they know how to make, and yes, watch commercials. Hell, if the weather holds up, we could even be BBQing and watching commercials. That'd be nice. But there is this little matter of who will win the game...More
All top seeds remain
By John Blagtas (Dec 21, 2005)
The season proved to be the best prognosticator of how these playoffs have shaped up so far with all the top teams making it to the final four. All the guessing, all the possible upsets, it was just having fun as fans. Seeing what we wanted to see instead of the fact that these four teams in their respective divisions were head and shoulders about their competition. The NFC was a little more obvious about the matter as opposed to the AFC, where it took seeing a stunned Peyton Manning to know that the Patriots won that many games (14) for a reason.More
