| This Year, It's a Game, Not a Drama Monday Morning Quarterback
This was a poorly played game. I fell asleep in the first half and the level of play was truly uninspiring. If either of these teams had faced any of the recent champions, it would have been blowout city. I was particularly surprised to see how bad Roethlisberger performed.
All in all, the game kind of went like we thought. Besides being underwhelming in every way, the zebras deserve some spite. They missed two calls that went for Pittsburgh and could have changed the game.More | | Down to the Final Four What in world did we just see last week? Just another weekend of smash mouth, blown calls and in the end incredible games. This is what playoff football was meant to be: controversy; great plays; a changing of the guard; and this year’s front-runner defeated. In the end, however, the best teams in each division are still standing.More | | Wins Against Detroit Show Jazz's True Potential The basketball season heads into 2006 with lots to look forward to -- Detroit Pistons will make a run at 70 wins, LeBron James continues to grow dramatically, and the Phoenix Suns with point guard Steve Nash are doing just fine while Amare mends. But the thing that caught my eye is that the Jazz are in first place in the incredibly week Northwest Division.More | | Never a Dull Moment With Christmas now passed, the presents all unwrapped, 2005 coming to an end, let's take a moment to go over what little nuggets this season has turned up.
Better Than Advertised
Detroit Pistons - God, who would have thought that they're this good. If the season progresses according to the first half results, the Pistons will be returning the favor to the Spurs come June. Flip Saunders is going to get lots of kudos and the team's legend grows. Larry Brown on the other hand looks like a major chump -- not only did he turn down the coaching job, the team looks better than ever. Not to mention, he's coaching the Knicks.More | | A Quarter Season Gone, Now What's In Store? At this point in the season, every NBA fan knows, that barring a trade or injury, this is the team they'll be seeing for the rest of the season. Sorry Toronto, sorry Atlanta, sorry New York -- so sorry for you. Houston, Phoenix, and Miami on the other hand, I know they've lagged projections all year. But now their stars are coming back into alignment giving me reason to believe everything will be alright.More | | The Haves and Have Nots The NBA Gods Don't Actually Hate the Bay Area
After seeing the Golden State Warriors now for a little more than a month, it should be obvious that this team is on the climb. I'm becoming a believer. The Warriors have a chance to enter that next echelon of teams is the next goal. They're close.
Top Conferences vs Bad Conferences
There is a disparity between the top three conferences and the bottom three. The Central, Southwest, and Pacific conferences each roll out three high quality teams, while the Atlantic, Southeast, Northwest bring up the rear. Maybe Miami and Minnesota qualify as quality teams, maybe. But the reality is, tMore | | Turkey Day 2005 In recognition of Thanksgiving, better known as the kickoff to the American holiday eating binge, let's talk about some of the biggest turkeys on the hardwood and in our top five, we name the teams that have to be giving thanks for all their blessings.More | | The Second Week Brings New Suprises From the first week of action I'm liking what we're seeing. The early jockeying now means something. New systems are being learned and the usual suspects are starting to set themselves up for the long run. As well, a few teams we mentioned last week are turning heads, while another has to be considered team of the week, and the TNT / TBS team has a new addition.More | | Let the New Season Begin With the season getting under way, prepare yourself for an earful of news about dress codes, Kobe & Phil, Larry & the Knicks, Shaq, and Wade & the Heat. Sure, the Spurs will rightly get their fair share of press early on, but by Christmas, rest assured, we'll find Tim Duncan and his mates so boring... Just kidding. We'll have plenty of time to talk about the contendas, but this is the perfect time to mention a few teams who will have people talking.More | | The Finals are Set First of all --WOW -- what a fun semi-final series the Heat and Pistons just gave us. Grit, experience and a little luck helped the Pistons overcome a beat-up Miami team. What will top that? Answer: the two best teams playing each other for the title.More |
