Job Opportunities: Contributing Writers

SF Station is always on the look out for talented Contributing Writers.

If you love the city you live in and want to cover the best events and businesses in the Bay Area, you should consider becoming a Contributing Writer for SF Station. We take our editorial seriously and want to share with others the best restaurants, movies, bands, parties, spas, art exhibits, theater performances and everything our wonderful city has to offer. Guidelines (Please read carefully)

Submission: The section editor will set the specific date by which an article must be submitted. Articles submitted to the section editor are copy edited, then sent to the managing editor - Anhoni Patel - for production. Late articles will not be posted on the website. Please confirm with the section editor if you are uncertain of a set deadline or need an extension.
Time Line: Writers should pitch their ideas to the proper section editor at least one week before the start of the event they would like to review. Writers should pitch their ideas towards the beginning of the run of an ongoing event. If the article is written too late into the run, the article will not be posted. (Some exceptions may apply).
Original Content: All articles submitted to SF Station must be original and not published in any capacity prior to submission and publication on SF Station. All submitted articles are subject to copyediting by the SF Station editorial staff.
Re-publication: SF Station has the right to re-publish articles as it sees fit. Writers can also re-publish their work with the written consent of SF Station.
Length: Articles should be 300 - 500 words. (500 words maximum).
Payment: Writers will be paid $30 for a feature article and $10 for cap and CD reviews after selection and publication by SF Station. The payment schedule runs from the 15th to the 15th of the previous month; e.g. checks cut the first week in March are for pieces published from January 15th - February 15th.

Pitches: We encourage writers to pitch SF Station with ideas for interesting articles or stories. Please e-mail Anhoni Patel with your ideas and stories.
Passes/Benefits: SF Station will provide writers with complimentary passes to events and venues that they are reviewing. In addition, writers should feel free to ask for complimentary passes to any SF Station sponsored event, even those events that they do not plan to review.
Refusal: SF Station reserves the right to refuse any submitted articles.
