San Francisco DJ Joaquin Bartra said he wrote his 2012 album Winter Mix for people to chill out to, dance to, f@#$ to-or all three. Its diverse, nuanced sound certainly gives it the flexibility to accomplish that. The sound is light and airy, yet filled with deep grooves. At times, the music feels almost like lounge, though it is technically house. Bartra spent his formative years bouncing between Peru and the Bay Area, hearing very different styles of music. He took to playing the sax in jazz bands but later switched to electronic music, into which he has filtered all these different influences. He is currently a resident at "Light Down Low" in San Francisco.
