Trumpeter/conguero Jerry González is one of Latin jazz’s most innovative artists. The band was featured in the critically-acclaimed documentary Calle 54. Now living in Spain, the six-time Grammy nominee has collaborated with jazz giants and Latin music greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, McCoy Tyner and Jaco Pastorius.
The 2014 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival at Yerba Buena Gardens in downtown San Francisco runs May 4 through October 26, 2014 and presents over 90 free events including music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, festivals and children’s programs with artists from Africa, Japan, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, the Philippines, Sweden, China, Venezuela and the Bay Area. This year’s Festival features events at Jessie Square with poetry, dance workshops and salsa dancing. Yerba Buena Gardens is located between Mission Street and Howard Street and 3rd and 4th Streets in downtown San Francisco.
