JD WILKES AND THE DIRT DAUBERS (of the Legendary Shack Shakers)
Plowboy Records’ latest signing, J.D. Wilkes and The Dirt Daubers, will release 'Wild Moon,' their third album, September 24th. Produced by Cheetah Chrome, ‘Wild Moon’ finds The Dirt Daubers - previously an old-timey, acoustic group – plugged in and wailing away on raw, blissfully distorted rock-n-roll and blues. The Dirt Daubers were formed by Legendary Shack Shakers front man, artist, director and country punk pioneer J.D. Wilkes in 2009 with his wife Jessica. Wilkes’ “gothic preacher” persona and frantic blues harmonica whips ‘Wild Moon’ into a frenzy, trading lead vocal duties with his feminine foil.

J.D. and Jessica are joined by electric guitarist Rod Hamdallah and drummer Preston Corn. Smoky baritone sax grooves are provided by Tom Waits’ sideman Ralph Carney, with piano played by Wilkes himself - delving deeper into the bluesy recesses of American music. Jessica emotes pained lyrics about life, love and loss on tunes like “No More My Love” and “Apples and Oranges,” while J.D. continues his southern storytelling style on “Angel Crown” and the title track.

Says J.D., “The band might have come “down from the mountain” (only to land square in the Mississippi Delta!) but the heart and soul of the Dirt Daubers remain intact.”

Plowboy's first two releases include 'Darker Than Light' by Bobby Bare, who will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame later this year, and 'You Don't Know Me: Rediscovering Eddy Arnold' a tribute album to honor one of the most influential country musicians of all time, featuring Frank Black, Alejandro Escovedo, Lampchop and more.

TRAINWRECK RIDERS

Trainwreck Riders are a rock 'n' roll country band from San Francisco. It is said that the boys are very influenced by Rob Kerwin's, Steve and Andrew Kerwin's dad, music collection of old timey music and fiddle playing. The bands influences also range from the Meat Puppets to Dinosaur Jr., and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their music is fast and energetic, yet soft and crooning. Recently, they had the chance to play with the Meat Puppets, but started out playing music with their San Francisco friends Two Gallants on the corner of 16th and Mission. They have played The Treasure Island Music Festival with their fellow San Francisco friends, as well as Modest Mouse, Spoon, and Built to Spill. They have also toured the country numerous times with such bands as The Devil Makes Three, Langhorne Slim and The Black Diamond Heavies. Their first album Where The Neon Turns To Wood was self released in 2004. Their second album, Lonely Road Revival, was released by Alive Records. Their third record was released on Alive Records on May 12, 2009. Entitled The Perch, the album was named after a favorite spot on the California coast where the boys often go for inspiration.
