Pianist Tammy Hall is "one of the Northern California’s most sought-after accompanists, providing soulful support for many of the region’s best jazz and blues singers," says jazz critic Andrew Gilbert. A native of Texas, Hall began playing piano at age four, leading to her participation in both regional and national recitals and competitions. She moved to the Bay Area in 1979 to attend Mills College and gained improvisational and accompanying experience sitting in with local bands. Following a two-year tour on the European festival circuit, Hall settled back in the Bay Area, where she has performed with artists such as Connie Champagne, Mary Wilson, Debbie De Coudreaux, the Montclair Women's Big Band, Houston Person, David Fathead Newman, Regina Carter, Jeremy Cohen, Mads Tolling, Marcus Shelby, Terrence Brewer, Kim Nalley, Denise Perrier, Pamela Rose, Linda Tillery, and Holly Near.
Forming the trio will be Ron Belcher, bass, and Deszon Clairborne, drums.
Ron Belcher has traveled the nation and the world bringing his rhythmically buoyant, emotionally uplifting style to the stage for a wide array of jazz artists. He has performed or recorded with such international stars as Branford Marsalis, Regina Carter, John Handy, Pete Escovedo, Donald Bailey, Ledisi, Rodney Franklin and Ernie Andrews, as well as a virtual “who’s who” of the San Francisco jazz scene.
Deszon Claiborne, a Bay Area native, began his musical career at the age of ten. Virtually self-taught in the beginning, he went on to study intensively with world-renowned drummers such as Ralph Humphrey, James Levi, Richard Peterson, Billy Cobham, and Kenneth Nash. These experiences provided him with a strong foundation in jazz, funk, rock, R&B, and world music. Claiborne has performed or recorded with Dr. Lonnie Smith, Boz Scaggs, Peter Apfelbaum, Charles Brown, Joe Locke, Les McCann, Robin Ford, Angela Bofill, Omar Sosa, Giovanni Hildalgo, Ernie Watts, and Donald Harrison.
