June 30 - CLAIRDEE with Special Guest Ken Peplowski
"Come Fly With Me: the Music of Sammy Cahn"
Bay Area treasure, vocalist Clairdee, returns to Filoli with clarinet master Ken Peplowski, joining the Ken French Trio in a centennial celebration of Sammy Cahn’s Oscar-winning music. Think “Day by Day,” “Call Me Irresponsible,” “Teach Me Tonight” and “High Hopes.” Vocalist Nancy Wilson declared, “In the tradition of all great vocalists, Clairdee infuses her own unique style while always remaining true to the song itself.” Ken Peplowski, whose playing spans the history of jazz from traditional to contemporary, has performed with Benny Goodman, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Tormé, Woody Allen, and Madonna, among many others. Tormé proclaimed, “The man is magic.” KCSM’s Clifford Brown, Jr. will emcee the concert.

The New York Times calls her “astounding, flawless and captivating.” DownBeat magazine praises Harry Allen’s “pale-lager tone and sure-footed swing” and Chris Flory, who worked with Benny Goodman for seven years, is applauded by People magazine for his “relaxed style and bluesy chord shadings.” The MC is everybody’s favorite, Alisa Clancy host of “Morning Cup of Jazz” on KCSM.

July 28 – LE JAZZ HOT (The Quartet of the Hot Club of San Francisco)
Audiences have been asking to hear them again and they’re back! Founder and leader of the group Paul Mehling says, “We’re trying to challenge the tendency to slavishly imitate Django’s style, without watering down the gypsy tradition or diluting the music.” Bud Spangler, Co-founder and former Producer of Jazz at Filoli, will emcee this concert.

Marcos was Musical Director for Flora Purim and Airto for more than 23 years, has toured with Paquito D'Rivera and Bud Shank and replaced Gil Evans as arranger for Airto’s “Spiritual Mass.” Dick Conte, veteran DJ at KJAZZ and KCSM and Brazilian music aficionado is MC for this concert.

August 25 – THE BRUBECK BROTHERS QUARTET (BBQ)
Carrying on the tradition of their father, the legendary Dave Brubeck, Chris Brubeck (electric bass and bass trombone) and Danny Brubeck (drums) are joined by Miles DeMicco on guitar and Chuck Lamb on piano. JazzTimes magazine concludes, “…this is a band with its own ever-evolving vision.” All About Jazz attests, "Once again the BBQ attains that rarefied level where music is both relaxed and expressive, and their joy in its creation is contagious. There's really nothing out there that comes close to their unique brand of inventiveness.” KCSM’s Kathleen Lawton will emcee this concert.
