Founded in 2002 in the Outer Richmond District of San Francisco, JAPONICA is locally owned and operated by Principal Designer, Valerie Nara. She is a second generation floral designer from Hawaii whose background in fashion, technical design, production and project management are matched with her creative talents.

JAPONICA brings a much needed gift boutique to the northwest corner of San Francisco and has established itself as both a reputable full-service florist and a uniquely stocked gift boutique. The wide array of gifts and flowers are always changing. JAPONICA also features works of art created by local designers, painters and jewelers. While the front sidewalk always has an eye-catching display of fresh flowers, once inside, clients marvel at the treasures artistically displayed. Among the french soaps and scented candles, you will find silver jewelry from Paris, hand-painted plates from Turkey, linen from Sweden, porcelain vases from Thailand, locally designed hand knotted jewelry, cashmere and silk scarves from Nepal among others. Not to be missed are the exotic air plants.
