Working off mostly band-written originals, LIGHT theBand, uses form as a way to break it. Every song has the chance to morph into something mind blowing. Well versed in harmonic and rhythmic theory, they snake into different keys and time signatures without losing the essence of funk and groove, throwing ideas off each other at the speed of…..Dan met Logan at a jam session in Santa Cruz in 2011, and soon after responded to a bass player for hire post on craigslist and jammed with James. It took over two years for all three to finally get together for a jam at Santa Cruz Rehearsal Studios. They played their first gig at The Crepe Place shortly after and have been playing Santa Cruz and the larger Bay Area ever since. And then….the Tim. Logan and Dan share a unique bond, both having little brothers that died in tragic drowning accidents. It’s a bond that underlies and infuses love into the band’s music and, has a lot to do with the name LIGHT. At the highest peaks of LIGHT theBand’s music, you can hear love and joy, grief and pain, the past, present and future, all colliding in an epic celebration of life….and it’s always funky.
