Description
What are the true parameters of art? In the spirit of serious play the RAC is proud to present Kurt Wold’s metaphoric inventions and the intertwined creations of Clayton and Betty Bailey.

Machinations: Kurt Wold

Kurt Wold presents some of the wackiest functional human powered machines since Orville and Wilbur turned the bicycle into an airplane. Wold’s kinetic installations are well-crafted meditations on man and the machine and serve as metaphors for life’s precariousness.

Robots and watercolors: Clayton and Betty Bailey

Clayton Bailey has chosen from his vast collection of whimsical, ironic robotic collections some of the most amazing creations that ever used to be a teapot, lava lamp or electric drill. His figurative or beastly sculptures don’t hold anything back: they stir confusion and infuse the serious gallery space with light-heartedness. Betty Bailey documents her life with Clayton and depicts a pantheon of West Coast artists at work and play.
